what's your opinion in the above statement?

many volunteer primarily because they are passionate and mindful about charity works and wanto to help in lighten others' sufferings or something they are dear to. not only the volunteers sacrifice their time, money and effort without the slightest anticipation of getting rewarded or even recognised. all these talks to qualify money equating to sacrifices in the ministerial salaries has cast a new meaning to volunteerism.

gov should start consider paying to volunteers instead of exploiting their passion.

Was one of the ' bo pian' in one NDP during year 199X. All corporal and below in the unit try to 'keng' to siam NDP. The taller 'bo bians' are automatically selected.

Luckily, got a good heart Parade Commander and Parade Sergeant Major during that NDP, with a lot of tea break, smoking break, toilet break and off days. But off days given by PSM kena eat by my unit occifers. Overall, not bad. make a few new friends from other units. There was also some minor screw ups on actual day during the marching but think TV never telecast the cock ups.

my li'l brother leetahsar did that b4. so much silent sacrifices. gotta pay your own transport fare at certain meeting point to n fro. pay own meals n drinks. the sweats, the tears, the pains and the aches....

in the end, what did u get? a good NDP show that wow singaporeans. it's passion and volunteerism. it's a privilege.

but now better re-think. must demand for compensation. hello, it was months of harsh training. leetahsar lost about 5 kg!!

these are all "sacrifices" tio bo? the only exception, there is no money compensated. how to differentiate volunteering willingly or being bo bianly exploited?? they must include reimbursement for all the sacrifices. not i wanna say one, the minitoots haggle for it. so we see, we must copy their example.

I can confirm the 99% of those in the NDP marching contigents (SAF, SPF, SCDF) are bo bians or 'kena arrowed' or 'kena marked' or not fast enough to siam 'volunteers'. The rehearsals start during April and continue until the actual day. Many weekends were burnt because have to accomodate other non-uniform groups, PAP, students, NTUC because that is the only time they can participate. We are quite lucky cos wearing smart 4, can sit and sleep anywhere during breaks. Most cham ones are the GOH contigents. those wearing no. 1, especially navy. Because white color so cannot sit and sleep like us.

so many NS boys even sacrifice their lives while doing NS. what about those sacrifices? and how much are they paid when they are alive? how much are they or rather the family being paid when NS boy dies in line of duty?

if the minitoots wanna boast about sacrifice, really there isn't any. one thing is very clear now to all singaporeans: NO MONEY NO TALK. if nobody takes the job, finally everyone in this island would just sink into the sea. just like table cleaners, sweepers, nurses and etc who are compelled to do jobs which not many would wanna do. and how much are they being paid?

minitoots if wanna use the word "SACRIFICE" again have to re-look how the lower rung workers are being exploitd by the gov which keeps harping us to multi-task but where's the appropriate pay increments? practically very little, negligible or even none. now that's sacrifice!

the correct word to describe in the ministerial salaries grandiose discussion is SYMBIOSIS. citizens have to benefit proportionally to their acquired obscene pays. if they over step it or over exaggerate it, then the relationship would be SYCOPHANTHIC. that is, they get richer; cintizens get poorer or practically stagnant.

it is unique in singapore that citizens do not have much to say. everything is just forced down our throats. everything is pre-destined, pre-ordained by them.

just wonder, if the same bunch of minitoots were to do the same in hongkong, what would the reaction be?
