@BinaryEvasion
Afghanistan was particularly bad.
Buddy told me a story of when he was deployed. Younger kid (around 10 or 11) was super friendly to the coalition troops and did some odd jobs to make money for his family. He was very pro US because the Taliban killed his dad. His uncle also worked with US troops as an interpreter.
Intel found out that the Uncle was selling info on convoy movements to the Taliban. Suspicion started when his convoy had never been attacked but other ones were. Guy got rounded up for interrogation and was basically imprisoned.
Kid found out and became distant, later found out the kid attempted to sabotage part of the base and had switched sides just because the US captured his Uncle, even though the same Taliban had killed his dad years earlier.
