Two days ago, some Rohingyas and Bangladeshis (among whom were individuals holding Bangladesh passports) staged a hunger strike in the same parking lot as in the video, demanding housing from the Indonesian government rather than relying on UNHCR. Despite the fact that numerous local residents still lack proper housing and are forced to sleep on the streets, these circumstances have fueled the anger of the students. Furthermore, it's noteworthy that the individuals in question receive 10 USD per person per day for meals, whereas locals, including my own nephew, are managing to get by with only 80 USD per month per family. This raises the question of how the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis perceive their connection to Indonesia. A video documenting their strikes was featured by a reputable local news agency yesterday.
