[Video] - Did you know? Scarlett is not a China brand, it is a Singapore brand (according to this video)

Yea it was founded in Singapore in 2020 to sell products from China. I thought it was from China too initially. And ya, Shilin is from Singapore too.

"Is Scarlett Supermarket (思家客) actually 'local'? I used Gemini to dig into the background and here’s the reality:

The parent company, Green Olive Group Pte Ltd, is registered in Singapore, but the founder and leader is Guo Bin (郭斌), a PRC entrepreneur. The business model is essentially a 'plug-and-play' version of China’s aggressive retail strategy—using PRC supply chains and networks to conduct business over here.

To me, this isn't a local brand. It's a foreign business using a Singapore UEN to sell a PRC-centric lifestyle. Curious to hear if you guys see them as a local player or just another mainland export?

IT IS a Tiong Company, no matter how they package it. The inferior product copycating quality is the red flag.

What about Shiok burger? It's has chink vibes all the way.
just google.

Shiok Burger is a homegrown Singaporean brand established in 2023, rather than a China-based company, although it is operated by the same group behind Chinese-influenced brands like Delibowl Group and is backed by Chinese investment. The chain specializes in fusion burgers with local flavors (e.g., Black Pepper Crab, Mala) in multiple Singapore locations.
Key details about Shiok Burger:
  • Origin: Founded in 2023, the chain is based in Singapore and focused on local flavors.
  • Concept: Known for "oriental burgers" or "rougamo-style" buns, it is operated by the Delibowl Group.
  • Expansion: The company has grown to 13 stores in Singapore within 12 months, with plans to expand to over 30 stores.
  • Menu: Features fusion, halal-certified options like the Mala Chicken Burger and Black Pepper Crab Burger.
  • Investment: While a Singapore brand, it has attracted investment from Chinese investors.

Another Tiong business with scamming tactic to pass off as local brand. So shameful to be opened up to be China Brand? They know their worthless worth?

It's made by Tiongs for Tiongs, but certain shills and 'influencers' online (especially on TikTok) would convince you otherwise with clickbait thumbnails like this:

The first Scarlett was probably in the Chinatown area, that's where the Green Olive Group is also located.
Scarlett also celebrated its 5th year anniversary in late 2025.

Scarlett Supermarket was established in October 2020 with the opening of its first store in Trengganu Street.

Scarlett Supermarket is a China supermarket offering customers value-for-money products with a variety stock from groceries to all-time-favorite snacks. The wide range of products including confectionery, noodles, beverages, alcohol, frozen food, sauces, seasoning and daily essentials to ensure that the needs of both locals and Chinese are met.

Other outlets opened later, including the recently opened one at the Vivocity bridge area. The JCube one opened for a short while before the mall was closed and demolished.

The three biggest Scarlett outlets: Grantral Mall @ Macpherson, Suntec and Westgate B2 (moved from previous location at B1).

It's just a way for the Tiongs to export their overly produced consumer goods and earn some precious Sinkie dollars.

By the way, the Tiongs put high fructose corn syrup into almost everything, especially beverages. I don't see Yeo's or Pokka or Coca Cola Company do that for their products. Any word yet from the HSA, HPB, MOH etc?
