just when u thought the paps have humble, things are slowly upping again :(

lst it's the hdb conservancy charges and now taxi fares. so better don't believe too much they would be reducing their obscene pays. now they have more reasons to sustain their superduper scale high pays with all the increases they have endorsed.

pay and pay really does live up to their name as they continue to pee and poo on everyone :(

one moment they caution that recession could be round the corner and the next prices are increased like nobody's biz.

the poor taxi uncles and aunties, how are they going to survive? recession means lesser commuters would be taking taxis. if prices are lowered instead, perhaps maybe more would resort to taxi as their mode of travel and sell their cars instead.

WHO REALLY MAKES FROM THE PRICES INCREMENT?

defintely not the taxi-drivers. their vehicle rentals are already astronomical. why isn't the gov interferring into this matter now and let taxi operators run like broad daylight robbery? is this their idea of "better the life" of the voters?

ComfortDelGro revises taxi fare structure from Monday

SINGAPORE - ComfortDelGro, the largest taxi operator here, said today it would revise its taxi fare structure from 6am, next Monday.

Flag down fares will also go up by 20 cents across its ComfortDelGro's fleet of 15,600 cabs here, while distance fares will be increased by 2 cents. Advance booking fees will also be increased by $8 to encourage more drivers to accept such bookings. The S$3 city area surcharge, which is currently in effect between 5pm and midnight from Monday to Saturday, will be extended to included Sundays and Public Holidays as well.

Peak period surcharge, meanwhile, will be reduced from the current 35 per cent to 25 per cent of the metered fare. It will, however, be extended to Sundays and Public Holidays.

Booking fees will also come down from the current S$3.50 during peak periods and S$2.50 at all other times, to S$3.30 during peak periods and S$2.30 at all other times.

The last taxi fare revision exercise was conducted in December 2007, and ComfortDelgro says it is revising its taxi fare structure "to better match supply with the ever-growing demand for taxi services in Singapore". ComfortDelGro operates some 15,600 taxis of the 26,700 taxis on the roads here.

Property tax rise for HDB flats offset by 1-time rebate

Published on Dec 2, 2011

Property tax for Housing Board flats will go up after the revision of Annual Values (AV) of all Housing Board flats from Jan 1. The revision comes as a result of the rise in market values.

However, the tax increase will be offset by a one-time rebate of $55 or the amount of the property tax based on 2012's AV, whichever is lower. The rebate will lessen the increase in property tax payable by lower and middle income households, with 94 per cent of all Housing Board flat owners receiving the rebate, said the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) in a statement on Friday.

The rebate will not apply to Housing Board flats that are not owner-occupied.

One and two-room owner-occupiers will continue to pay zero property tax, while those in three-room flats will on average pay roughly the same tax as last year. All four- to five-room flat owners will pay $5 to $29 more for the year.
