Unofficial SOP to handle cheating in PSLE, O-Levels & A-Levels

In a typical school exam, students caught cheating are usually identified and punished.

However, in PSLE, O-Levels & A-Levels exams, we hardly hear about students cheating in the above exams, despite these life-changing examinations being the focus of every school-going kid.

In these major examinations, there will be exchange of teachers between different schools to invigilate the exams. The principal is liable to report to MOE for each of these cases identified by the chief invigilator in their school. Rightfully, the wrong-doer will be barred from the exam (wait for another year for the next opportunity) and the principal is liable to explain why he failed to preach the right values to student despite years under his care. Thus, affecting the principal's KPI.

Due to the two implications (student and principal), it becomes a common "trade-practice" to just stop the kid from cheating, reprimand him briefly and send him back to complete the exam. Experienced teachers shared that very often, they will just close a blind to eye to those cheating in these major examinations because of the pressures from the principal.

This is why, we hardly heard about students being caught for cheating in these major examinations.

my uncle say KNN ter nao principle never state rule in advance of course hard to control. he say just say to the ter nao students before exam kickoff anyone caught cheating will be issued red card and sent off. he say if just say will be punished is vague and useless KNN.
