STOMPer SOM felt it was unfair that tickets to the Universal Studio were unavailable at the door and instead had to be purchased from a tour agency. As a major tourist attraction SOM believes some tickets should have been accessible for purchase at Universal Studio's ticketing counter. Also, the lack of knowledge the staff of Universal Studio had of the attraction was a disappointment.
SOM said:
"I went to Universal Studio Singapore to book tickets for a group tour of 40 people today, but were told the tickets for this Saturday were unavailable. But when we enquired last week, we were told that tickets can be booked one week in advance.
"At the counter, the staff informed us that they cannot help us to get the tickets. When asked if there were any other options, the staff said we may verify with travel agency.
"To our surprise, when we called, the agency told us that tickets were available.
"I am not sure how fair it is that the tickets were not available in the Universal Studio but was available at travel agency.
"We have many questions:
"Is it fair to allocate all the tickets to travel agency? If the tickets are always available with travel agency, then what is the point of having a ticket counter at the site itself ?
"This is a major tourist attraction and most tourists do go straight to purchase tickets at the door. Shouldn't Universal Studio retain some tickets for walk-in customers, at least for tourists?
"When asked what is the capacity of universal studio, the staff told us that they do not have the information and they cannot find in the ticketing system. Is the staff equipped with all knowledge of Universal studio?
"I have seen some people coming to the ticketing counter and returning with a disappointed face. Since Universal Studio is a tourist attraction, should not the staff offer them some benefits or promotions to appease them?
"We have received the tickets from the travel agency. Although the tickets are valid from 10 Jul to 08 Oct, will Universal Studio forbid us from entering this Saturday?
"I am confused."
