Honestly, sometimes cannot blame MINDEF chaps for this coz some of their very own 'shiok sendiri' when armed with these 'titles' like Military Expert. They just cheapened the value of an 'expert'.
SBS also quite innovative leh. Bus driver can be bus captain! It may surprise you but some of these drivers achieved 'shiok sendiri' even though their salaries went up slightly only. I believe Ong Ah Heng was the person behind this feat.
Job titles are very important to some people. Pay comes second.
I recall many years ago when the SPF came up with Neighbourhood Police Centres. The person in-charge was known as Commanding Officer. Some achieved an erection coz Commanding Officer in the SAF can be quite a big fuck. They viewed themselves like CO of SAF camps. Honestly, rank baru ASP, hold CO NPC post, what's the big deal when the person who used to perform the same role was only Insp rank holding the appointment of OC NPP.
