Ukraine goes to the polls on Sunday amid an uptick in fighting in the eastern Donbas region, where two Russian-backed republics broke away in 2015. FRANCE 24's Gulliver Cragg and Jonathan Walsh report.

The frontline separating government-held territory from that controlled by pro-Russian forces has moved little since 2015, but there is fighting almost every day – and has ramped up over recent weeks.
It is in this context that the second round of Ukraine's presidential elections on Sunday pits incumbent Petro Poroshenko against Volodymyr Zelenskiy, a comedian who plays a fictional president on TV.

Zelensky issued the first order, the morale of the Ukrainian army rose sharply, and Russia claimed that the combat power was judged by two people.
2019-05-09 23:21 Weapons / Russia / Tanks

According to Ukrainian media reports, with the countdown of the new Ukrainian president, his first decree has been issued, demanding that the Ukrainian army in the Donbass area "recover lost ground" and drive away "foreign aggressors." The release of this order also shows that Zelensky is not a Ukrainian leader who is friendly to Russia. With the issuance of this order, the strikes of Ukrainian frontline soldiers against Ukrainian civilian armed forces have been strengthened ever before, and many times against eastern Ukraine. The civilian armed forces took the initiative to kill more than 200 opposing soldiers, including 90 "Russian mercenaries", which caused chaos in the armed forces in eastern Ukraine.

And in response to these offensive actions, the Russian advisory group also said that although there was no change of commanders and no replacement of personnel, the Ukrainian government forces in recent days have been arguing with the Ukrainian army in terms of combat effectiveness and offensive sharpness, especially Ukraine. Several times the army took the initiative to attack, so that the Dongwu militia troops who were used to the defense of the main offensive were caught off guard and suffered a lot of losses. The reconnaissance units of the Ukrainian government forces have even carried out sabotage activities in the depths of Dongwu, causing considerable losses to the Dongwu militia.

In response to this change, the Russian advisory group and the Dongwu militia quickly responded and used a variety of weapons to attack the Ukrainian troops. However, the Ukrainian government forces not only used the advanced advantages of NATO weapons to stabilize their positions, but also planned to continue counterattack. The Donbass area, which was about to be won by the Dongwu militia, is now firmly in the hands of the Ukrainian government, and the Ukrainian government will plan for a bigger offensive in the future. The ultimate goal is to eliminate all Dongwu militia and Russian forces. Reoccupy Donetsk and Lugansk.

In the face of this situation, the Dongwu militia quickly made adjustments, not only to re-send some elite troops to the frontline battlefield, but also brought more advanced weapons from Russia, including the T-90 main battle that was rarely equipped before. Tanks and a variety of howitzers, these weapons will have a great impact on the balance of the entire East Wu battlefield, it is clear that to give Zelensky a Mawei, let him feel that the Dongwu militia is not so easy to directly defeat of.

Experts said that the Ukrainian army did not have an attacking core direction. Although Poroshenko was clamoring for counterattacks, but in the back of the land to maximize the benefits but did not want the conflict to expand, which also made the Ukrainian frontline soldiers feel at a loss, and now there are clear orders, Ukrainian soldiers also It can be put together, but the battle has now turned into a positional battle. It is difficult to guarantee the victory of the entire battle situation with only one moment of war. Go back to Sohu and see more

80 billion yuan for the Chinese to move the production line back to the country, the United States has been unable to stop!
2019-05-04 09:02 United States /Russia /China

After the reform and opening up, China's development speed has indeed reached an unprecedented level, but we should also clearly understand that while the economy is developing rapidly, we still have some shortcomings. Although we have made many great achievements in the field of science and technology, we are still a prominent shortcoming of the domestic engine. If you want to have enough strength to compete with the two giants of the United States and Russia, you must first solve the serious injury of the engine, but if you do not have outside help, you must rely on our own development to overcome this shortcoming. At least you need to work hard. Ten years, so in order to solve this problem as soon as possible, we began to pin our hopes on other countries, and good friend Ukraine is our first choice.

According to foreign media reports, the recent elections in Ukraine have been resolved, and the new president Zelensky has opened three fires. In order to prove to the outside world that he is not as amateur as the media said, the first thing he took office was to restore the country's economy. Of course, what he can do now is to maximize the country's manufacturing industry and choose to cooperate with China. One of the best ways, even arguably fame and fortune.

At present, there is news that Ukraine has agreed to invest 80 billion yuan in China's aero engine production line. In this way, the other party can get the funds they need, and we can get the technology we dream of. This is definitely a win-win situation. Happening. Of course, the new president is not a fool. This time, sales technology is not the old way of exchange of funds between Ukrainian pawnshops, but the ability to embrace China's thighs, emulate African countries, and continue to absorb Chinese companies. Promote the development of the Ukrainian economy.

Although the verbal commitments of China and Uzbekistan have made the United States feel dissatisfied or even panic, with the current strength of China, the United States cannot stop even if it is dissatisfied. Go back to Sohu and see more

Rudy Giuliani Cancels His Trip to Ukraine, Blaming Democrats’ ‘Spin’

WASHINGTON — Facing withering attacks accusing him of seeking foreign assistance for President Trump’s re-election campaign, Rudolph W. Giuliani announced on Friday night that he had canceled a trip to Kiev in which he planned to push the incoming Ukrainian government to press ahead with investigations that he hoped would benefit Mr. Trump.
Mr. Giuliani, President Trump’s personal lawyer, explained that he felt as if he was being “set up” by Ukrainians critical of his efforts, and he blamed Democrats for trying to “spin” the trip.
“They say I was meddling in the election — ridiculous — but that’s their spin,” he said.
Mr. Giuliani said on Thursday that he had hoped to meet in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, with the nation’s president-elect and urge him to pursue inquiries that could yield new information about two matters of intense interest to Mr. Trump. One is the origin of the special counsel’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. The other is the involvement of former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s son in a gas company owned by a Ukrainian oligarch.
The trip raised the specter of a lawyer for Mr. Trump pressing a foreign government to pursue investigations that his allies hope could help him win re-election. And it comes after Mr. Trump has spent more than half of his term facing scrutiny about whether his 2016 campaign conspired with Ukraine’s hostile neighbor, Russia. Mr. Giuliani had planned to leave on Sunday.
Mr. Trump has suggested he would like Attorney General William P. Barr to look into the material gathered by the Ukrainian prosecutors. On Friday afternoon, Mr. Trump intimated he was considering speaking to Mr. Barr about the overlap between Mr. Biden’s diplomacy in Ukraine and his son’s involvement with the gas company.
“Certainly it would be an appropriate thing to speak to him about, but I have not done that as of yet,” Mr. Trump told Politico in an interview. He suggested that he intended to speak to Mr. Giuliani about the matter before the planned trip to Kiev.

After The New York Times published a report about the trip on Thursday, Democrats assailed Mr. Giuliani, accusing him of activity evoking that at the center of the recently concluded special counsel’s investigation.
“Today, Giuliani admitted to seeking political help from a foreign power. Again,” tweeted Representative Adam B. Schiff, Democrat of California and the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. He called the plan “immoral, unethical, unpatriotic and, now, standard procedure.”
Senator Christopher S. Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat who serves on the Foreign Relations Committee, sent a letter to the panel’s Republican chairman asking for an investigation of Mr. Giuliani’s activities. Mr. Giuliani’s engagement with the Ukrainians amounted to “private foreign policy engagement,” Mr. Murphy wrote, adding, “I am deeply concerned about the implications of this for United States foreign policy.”

On Friday night, Mr. Giuliani rejected that characterization, asserting in a brief interview, “My only purpose was to make sure the investigation continued.”
The change of plans came as advisers were urging the incoming Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, a comedian and political newcomer, not to meet with Mr. Giuliani, according to a person familiar with the conversations.
Mr. Giuliani had requested the meeting with Mr. Zelensky through intermediaries, but it had not been confirmed.
Mr. Giuliani’s foray into Ukrainian politics comes at a delicate moment for the country, which is deeply reliant on the United States for financial and military aid. The current Ukrainian government has sought to distance itself from matters related to the special counsel’s investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential race.
Mr. Zelensky is set to take office on June 3.
The investigations had been opened by Ukrainian prosecutors during the term of the country’s current president, Petro O. Poroshenko. He lost his re-election bid last month to Mr. Zelensky, who has said that he would like to replace the country’s top prosecutor, who oversaw some of the matters.
Mr. Giuliani and other Trump allies had been working behind the scenes with the prosecutor to gather information about the investigations.
Mr. Giuliani said he feared he would have been “walking into a trap” had the meeting with Mr. Zelensky occurred. He predicted that it would have been misrepresented by advisers of Mr. Zelensky who have criticized the top prosecutor, singling out a member of Ukraine’s Parliament, Serhiy A. Leshchenko, who has advised the incoming president.

Late last year, a court in Ukraine faulted Mr. Leshchenko for calling attention in 2016 to documents related to the work in Ukraine of Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman at the time, Paul Manafort. The documents, which were first published in The New York Times, led to the resignation from the campaign of Mr. Manafort, who has since pleaded guilty to charges brought by the special counsel related to his work in Ukraine, and is serving a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Mr. Giuliani has called for additional inquiry into Mr. Leshchenko’s scrutiny of Mr. Manafort.
Mr. Leshchenko, who is appealing the Ukrainian court’s ruling faulting him, said in an interview on Saturday that he did not advise Mr. Zelensky to skip the meeting with Mr. Giuliani. But he faulted Mr. Giuliani for working with the top Ukrainian prosecutor, whom Mr. Leshchenko accused of being “corrupt.”
Mr. Giuliani said the requested meeting with Mr. Zelensky was a recent addition to a previously planned trip to Kiev to deliver a paid speech about Middle East policy to a Jewish group.
On Friday, Mr. Giuliani said that group “felt overlooked” by all of the scrutiny on his efforts to try to advance Mr. Trump’s interests in Ukraine. He said they would reschedule his speech for the fall.

cd874bd4a5024833b156c42752af845e.jpeg

77e99a391c2b4289a429768ef1b2bddc.jpeg

2400c9d3036e4f1a97b705c723a2b53d.jpeg

Russian troops or soldiers are not bloody. Putin has a big move to restrict Ukraine! New President Zelensky has no response
2019-05-10 10:02 Missile / Putin / Russia

According to the Russian satellite network, on May 9, Ukrainian newly elected presidential campaign headquarters spokesman Sviatoslav Yulas said in a live TV show that the new president Zelensky will join NATO and the EU Continued the policy line of the former President Poroshenko.

The aftermath of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is still continuing. As the provocative party, Ukrainian President Poroshenko has recently launched a big move! According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on May 8, the new Ukrainian President Zelensky announced that Kiev will conduct a test of the latest ballistic missile military operations in Chernigov, adjacent to Russia and Belarus! Zelensky inherited the toughness of former President Poroshenko and declared to the media that "the threat to Russia, Ukraine can only ensure the national security if it acquires the latest and most advanced weapons, and this test missile will become the Ukrainian defense force." A little process!"

Schematic diagram of the conflict

Previously, when former President Poroshenko had communicated with the NATO commander, he claimed that the Ukrainian national defense force must increase the long-range and high-precision missiles in order to destroy the enemy logistics department at a distance! According to sources, Poroshenko hopes that Western countries can provide a variety of medium-range large-power cruise missile systems! It is also inevitable that in the hands of Zelensky, it is inevitable to strengthen the military strength of Ukraine in this respect.

Poroshenko announced the test firing of precision missiles

In fact, the former Ukrainian President Poroshenko with NATO support is under tremendous pressure! After the outbreak of the Kerch conflict, Poroshenko announced that the country entered a wartime state. He called on the Ukrainian people to take up arms to resist the invasion of Russian ground forces and promised to provide Ukrainian military salaries at the moment of the Russian ground forces invasion! According to Ukrainian military sources, due to a series of complicated reasons, the Ukrainian economy is facing a huge dilemma, and the government has maintained a huge military expenditure in order to cope with the so-called large-scale invasion of Russia. The wages of most soldiers have not changed!

New President Zelensky

Poroshenko only carried out salary reforms for some special forces trained by US military advisers! This problem has arrived at the new President Zelensky. In fact, there is no good solution because the former Poroshenko left him with too many "bad messes"!

Ukraine tests mid-range air defense missiles on the Black Sea

On the Russian side, President Putin’s military strategy for Ukraine is still changing. Some people think that this is the trick of President Putin, that is, not to send ground troops, but to maintain a strong military deterrent, Russia is trying to use a military strategy that is not bloody to disintegrate Ukraine! According to sources, don’t look at the previous military exercises conducted by Poroshenko to test long-range missiles. In fact, the Ukrainian army is on the verge of transformation, especially in Ukraine, near the Russian border in Donetsk and Zaporozhye. The border guards and the army, because they have not received the government’s promise to raise wages, but also face the strong military pressure of Russia, tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers complained! The new president, Zelensky, also faced the same problem. The financial situation in Ukraine is so bad. Zelensky seems to have a black eye!

The current situation is that if Russia really wants to attack, the 50,000 Ukrainian troops on this side of the defense will probably surrender immediately! At the same time, the situation in Crimea was almost the same, and the referendum fell into Russia! ! The Putin soldiers won the Crimea without blood, and the seemingly powerful NATO military alliance did not dare to provide direct military support to Ukraine. At most, it was economic sanctions! How can the new Ukrainian President Zelensky resolve? Analysts believe that Zelensky may be inclined to ease relations with Russia, otherwise he will certainly face the same situation as Poroshenko!
