I've read somewhere that up till the age of around 35, a person's attractiveness is more or less genetically inherited from his/her parents, rather fixed. So if your parents are attractive, you will be attractive too.
After the age of 35, your looks begin to reflect the condition of your soul, your inner world. From that point onwards, ugly people can become more attractive, while the beautiful ones can become ugly. So it's rather flexible.
