What is that "plume" in the second photo?

Do you mean the "plume" in the north-west direction? That's the UFO. There appears to be 3 rings. They come from the north, skirts the north-west surface of the sun and leave in the south-west direction.

The "plume" in the south-east direction could be a flaring sunspot.

Why do they think it is an UFO and not just a solar flare?

Why do they think it is an UFO and not just a solar flare?

Because part of the distinctive circular shape of the rings is clearly visible.
