Two who acted as lookouts for pimps charged

SINGAPORE: Two men have been charged in the State Courts with obstructing justice and helping to run a brothel.
Ong Jia Qing, 21, and Tay Kim Poh, 40, face two charges each.
They are accused of obstructing justice between June and October 2013 in Geylang, by acting as a lookout for a pimp named Zhi Wei.
The two men allegedly alerted prostitutes under the pimp's charge whenever the police were around.
Ong is accused of doing so between September and October 2013, while Tay is accused of doing so between June and October 2013.
The maximum penalty for obstructing justice is a jail term of seven years and a fine.
Both men face a second charge of helping the pimp run a brothel during the same period.
If convicted of the offence, they each face a fine of up to S$3,000 and a jail term of up to three years. - CNA/nd
