SINGAPORE: Police have arrested two men believed to be involved in various private residential estate break-ins in Simei, Siglap Frankel, Simpang Bedok and Pasir Panjang.
The culprits, who are Chinese nationals, had gained entry into the residential units by climbing in through unsecured kitchen and toilet windows at night.
They would then search for items lying around, and remove them without the occupants' notice.
Police recovered some S$5,000, along with foreign currencies, mobile devices and gadgets from the two suspects.
Supt Jarrod Pereira, Deputy Commander, Bedok Police Division, said: "These housebreakers, they choose their victims. And you can avoid being a victim by taking simple measures like locking up your house, even if it's for a short while.
"If you go out for a meal, lock up your house. Install good quality grills, locks, CCTVs, even burglar alarm systems. All these will ensure that you don't become a victim of housebreaking."
At least 20 housebreaking cases have been reported in these same areas between September 1 to 18.
The two Chinese nationals have admitted to six cases.
Police investigations are ongoing.
