SINGAPORE – Two people were found dead after a fire broke out in a flat in Toa Payoh on the evening of July 22.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post at about 9.15pm that it had responded to the blaze at around 7.30pm at Block 173 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.

When firefighters arrived at the unit, located on the second floor, the living room was on fire. They entered the smoke-filled flat and extinguished the flames using a water jet.

“During the firefighting operation, firefighters found two unresponsive persons inside the unit and immediately carried them out,” SCDF said. “Both persons were pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

If I remember correctly, home fires were extremely rare throughout the 1970s to about 10 years ago. The increase in frequency appears to correlate with the increase of PMD ownership.

Hence, fuck PMDs. They are to be blamed.

Which minister approved the PMD? I know some countries do nor allow PMD.

SINGAPORE – More personal mobility devices (PMDs) and power-assisted bicycles (PABs) caught fire in the first six months of 2023, compared with the same period in 2022.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force’s (SCDF) mid-year report, released on Tuesday, said there were 27 fires involving 18 PABs and nine PMDs. This compares with 22 fires involving such devices in the first half of 2022.

In May, three people were hospitalised after a fire broke out in a Sengkang flat where a PMD had been left charging in the living room.

SCDF responded to 967 fires in the first half of 2023 compared with 918 fires over the same period in 2022.

More than half of the fires, or 493 cases, occurred in homes, which included private and public-housing residences.

SCDF said cooking activities were the leading cause of fires in homes, with 205 such cases.

There was also a 40.5 per cent increase in fires involving discarded items, vegetation or vehicles in the first half of 2023, from the same period in 2022. There were 281 such cases in 2023, and 200 in 2022.

Certain things you cannot leely on AI, as it will still need to Leetrieve those data from pap portals.

PMD and EV should be the caused of majority of fire in sg ever since lazy users started to run amok with pmds.
If it was due to cooking, it wouldn't have excess fire cases as cooking was already there since BC.

Fire on PMD, EV or smart meter were all caused by EMF.

Noted, but it seems many of those big and devastating fires have been PMD related.

PMD is really a much cheaper mode of transport avoiding burden to taxpayers. Charging has to be in kiosks with safe facilities. Like pumping petrol at petrol kiosk. Not at home.

All smart devices can catch a fire. Even if you ban pmd, others still can catch fire

To prevent catching a fire, is to stop using smart devices
Problem lies with the power of the batt.
Small smart devices are unlikely to cause flat burn down. The most it just explode the user ear.
Pap have to ban EV and pmd if they doesn't want big fire.
Forget about controlling the type and certification of the batteries.
Pap is not capable to control this.
