The percentage of the cohort entering local universities is projected to continue increasing to 30% by 2015.” </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

This is the most insincere thing I've read this week. This feller is not getting my vote for president.

As of today many rich parents with children who cannot get into local universities have them educated overseas. If not for their parents being rich, they would have missed out on a university degree which they are fully capable of getting. This means that thousands of children of poor families miss out on an opportunity for a degree simply because they are too poor to send their children overseas. At the same time, the govt educate thousands of foreigners' children in our university. What is this?

We are asked to serve in the military to die for the country but opportunities go to foreigners. What kind of leaders do we have? What kind of country are they building? We cannot trust them with our future, they will sink us tothe bottom for economic gains.

I'm not voting Tony Tan. He doesn't even understand what is wrong with this country and claims to want to unite it. This is all nonsense - what he said about university education for Singaporeans. He merely picked some statistics to justify the status quo - how different is that from what the PAP govt and PAP MPs are doing? .....

In almost all other countries, citizens are encouraged to further their studies. What about singapore?

It is one of the minority countries where citizens have difficulty in getting a place in local universities. If a country is poor, therefore cannot afford to offer places, that is understandable. In Singapore, it is not the lack of resources but most places are taken up by foreigners.

As a Singaporean, if you do not feel insulted by this, then I rest my case.
