SINGAPORE - A 53-year-old driver has been arrested for his alleged involvement in causing an oil spillage that occurred in the early morning of Jan 15 along Paterson Road.
All five lanes on the road heading towards River Valley, between Orchard Road and Orchard Boulevard, were closed, causing massive jams around the area. After clean-up efforts were exhausted, the Land Transport Authority decided to resurface the road, which was only reopened 13 hours after the oil spill, which happened at 1.30am.
According to police, the man driving the truck that had caused the oil spillage was identified at Woodlands Checkpoint at about 3pm on the same day. He was placed under arrest for Causing Hurt by Negligent Act. If convicted, he is liable to an imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or with fine not exceeding $2,500, or both.
