There is a serious flaw in the explanation of Patrick Tan pre-med disruption. In US system, you are on a credit system in undergrad studies. You are not automatically accepted into medical school when you start your undergraduate freshman. Therefore, it is strange for Tony Tan office to explain the pre-med and med school reasoning. Very often, you apply to med school in your junior year in college, you will need alot of of testimonials from your professors in college to recommend you for med school. You then apply to med school with those recommendation and then go for interviews and you may be accepted or rejected. It is even stranger for patrick tan to spend so much time in undergrad as he could have transferred credits from his A level exams. In no way, med school will accept any student without going through undergrad first. So MINDEF gave disruption on a false assumption of Patrick tan going to medical school.

All the move appears to be pre-meditated by Tony and Son Company. It is a total insult to Singapore Military systems and all the sons of Singapore who served their obligations with many sacrifices. Tony Tan dares to talked about Singaporeans first in SMU, my foot!!! Seemed more like his children come first and above military oath. Giving his son all the opporunities to the maximum, unbonded scholarship, free-will leisure to study and yet Tony Tan deprived Singaporeans a place in NUS in favour of foreigners. That makes him the most hated person in PAP. You guys can judge now.

I understand his Pre-U cohorts had better reults than his 3 A's. So what gives that he gets Scholarships? In fact being a millionaire, he and his Dad should pay for his studies and the Scholarships given to poor families. They want the cake and eat it too. Is that not greed?

The same applies to other illustrious PAP famillies bearing surnames Lee,Teo, Yeo etc. All their scions were awarded top scholarships when there are possibly more deserving chaps hailing from humble backgrounds. Meritocracy in name only!You still have to flash your credentials and connections.

Since TT is already a very rich man, I wonder too why he wants to be president, surely its not about the money. My reasoning is he is there to cover the PAP's mistake. Thanks to the internet community we all know of TTs dirty linen which has been exposed to the public. For example he favours foreigners to singaporeans etc. He is not fit to be the President. But he has place himself in the running to win. That way he and the PAP continue to dominate the country. Also if the Presidency falls to TJS or TKL etc, TT's dirty secrets on his role in the PAP and all the other companies will be exposed even more. That is why to the PAP and for TT's own future, he must win.

Also another point, Nathan is highly unpopular. TT would have won if he chose to stand at the last Presidential election, but using him now to stand for Presidency has just gotten so much harder because of the online community. Also TT and son's explanation of what is going on is weak and does not hold water. When TT becomes President, unless he has a change of heart and fight for Singaporeans which I doubt will happen, he will be even more hated than Nathan. History will not look on him favourably.

TT to save himself further embarrassment should walk out of the presidency, say he is too ill, family business needs him etc and at least the hounding will stop as we will have nothing else to say. If he wins the presidency, the presidency and him will be even more tainted than it is. If he looses the election, the PAP and him will really have no face.

Both options is bad for him, if he wins, he looses. If he looses, he really looses. TT just walk away, you will have preserve the limited dignity you have left. and the hounding will stop.

Bro no offence. But you contradict yourself here. First you seem to say those from humble backgrounds should be prefered for scholarship. This is discriminating against wealth group. Then you ask for meritocracy which essentially disregards wealth and background.
