KULAIJAYA: After being told that something bad will happen to her only child, a single mother was coaxed to take part in a cleansing ceremony where she parted with RM26,000 in cash and valuables for a bag of “auspicious items”.
However to 58-year-old Tay Ah Cha’s dismay, she found that the bag was filled with ordinary table salt when she opened the bag.

Tay said that she have been saving money for the past 20 years making pau and doing tailoring works before it all went down the drain in a blink of an eye.

She recalled that two men and a lady, all in their forties, had approached her when she was heading to a market along Jalan Siantan 1 Indahpura here at around 7.30am on last Thursday.

"The two men started calling out to but I just ignored them when suddenly a woman tapped my shoulder and whispered that my son would die in a horrific car crash.

"I immediately stopped in my tracks and one of the men approached me and claimed he was able to save my son's life if I follow their instruction and take part in a cleansing ceremony," she said in a press conference organised by Senai assemblywoman Wong Shu Qi here Sunday.

Tay said that the woman claimed that evil spirits had been following her everywhere and would be the cause her son's tragic death so she had to "appease" the spirit by giving cash.
