September 24th, 2010 |
Author: Editorial
THE leading alternative news website cum blog in Singapore, The Temasek Review has received an email from Mr Gary Bryson, a radio producer with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation requesting for a discreet in person interview with their representative ?to be featured in an upcoming radio documentary jointly produced by Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BBC World Service.
In his email addressed to Temasek Review, Mr Gary Bryson will be producing a radio documentary focussing on an aspect of independent media and new media in one of four countries ?Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore.
揟he idea is to look at how free speech and media independence is developing (or not) in each of the places we visit, and to try and say something about the importance of freedom of expression in people抯 lives. ? he wrote.
Given the PAP抯 track record of persecuting dissenting voices and outright abuse of criminal and defamatory laws to achieve its nefarious aims, Temasek Review has kindly rejected the invitation to an in person interview to be conducted in Singapore.
However, according to an email reply by their Managing Editor based in Panama, 搮..we are agreeable to a telephone or email interview if it is an acceptable alternative.?/STRONG>

I am a radio producer with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, based in Sydney. As part of a co-production with the BBC World Service, I抦 currently making four radio documentaries, each one focussing on an aspect of independent media and new media in one of four countries ?Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore. The idea is to look at how free speech and media independence is developing (or not) in each of the places we visit, and to try and say something about the importance of freedom of expression in people抯 lives.
We抮e planning to visit Singapore on October 8, and will be there until Ocotber 12. My BBC colleague and I would be very interested in interviewing someone from The Tamasek Review while we are there. This would be an audio interview only, no cameras, and the programs will be broadcast around the world by the BBC and in Australia by ABC. We understand the sensitivities involved; anonymity can be provided if necessary.
Please let us know if you feel able to help us
Regards,
Gary Bryson
