The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has received the final prototype of a 29 tonne tracked armoured fighting vehicle (AFV) which is intended to replace the army's ageing M113A2 Ultra armoured personnel carrier (APC) fleet, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen announced during his annual press conference for SAF Day which falls on 1 July.

While specifics of the development plans and timelines were not disclosed, Ng hinted that the effort is well under way with some systems already put in place. These include the Remus 100 autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed by Kongsberg subsidiary Hydroid.

The "new" AFV dun look too revolutionary to me... seems more like a upgraded M113 .. basic structure still same.. this time made by who?? what happened to the Terrex? Why need Bionix and this "new" AFV, how will they be used to complement each other? More questions that answers with these new toys....
