KULAI: A Singaporean cyclist was killed after being involved in an accident with a trailer on Jalan Gunung Pulai this morning.

Kulai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said the department received a report of the collision, involving the cyclist and a hanvan-type trailer, at around 9.45am.

He said investigations revealed that the 42-year-old cyclist, who was riding with three others, had struck a pothole and fallen onto the road.

"At the time of the incident, the 41-year-old local trailer driver, who was on his way to Singapore to deliver gravels, was unable to avoid the victim and ran over him," he said in a statement today.

The victim, who was trapped under the trailer, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The trailer driver was unharmed.

"The cyclist's body has been sent to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (for reckless or dangerous driving)," he added.

Trailer delivering gravels to sinkie are paid by the number of trips he makes and mostly likely speeding.

Truly a menace on the roads. Poor uncle late for his delivery.
