Singaporeans from all walks of life who like to keep things real have come out to tell PAP candidates running in Tanjong Pagar GRC to continue to treat the constituency as a “trophy GRC”.
This after Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Chan Chun Sing, who is one of the MPs in Tanjong Pagar GRC, said the constituency is a trophy GRC and would be an “injustice” to residents if opposition parties contest there just because “they want to put up a fight” during the election.
One resident in the GRC, Mai Hao Seow, said he agrees with the minister: “I think everybody can agree that the PAP is the one that thinks Tanjong Pagar GRC is a trophy GRC. That’s the only reason why they would think the opposition thinks this way.”
“And I totally agree with him that just because Lee Kuan Yew was there before, this must be a prized GRC. This is exactly the type of elitist mindset we must cultivate in today’s leaders.”
Another Singaporean, Zuo Zhong Li, said he hopes to see other PAP MPs from other GRCs also think Tanjong Pagar GRC is a prized GRC: “We cannot be influenced to think that Singapore is a equal society where all are even.”
“Then we wouldn’t have one political party lording it over us all the time.”
