A click on NUS or NTU faculty listing reveals a list of almost 80% foreigners.

Why Sinkies don't want to do doctorates and be an academic?
Everyone just want to earn $$$ and fuck prostitutes?
Academic research is one of the best way to provide impetus and reason for positive change.

Singaporeans need to be down to earth people who can drive enterprise and people who can serve the grassroots. Let the foreigners be the ivory towered academics. No harm in that at all.

Your statement is shocking...

Policies are forged partly from research data... and consultation with experts

Having Foreigners there in academia is one of the reason why sinkies are suffering...

I feel sad for Sinkies!

NUS and NTU are a mixture of industrial as well as basic research. The basic research we can leave it to foreigners as that has no immediate value. Industrial research can be taken up by Singaporeans not just in academia, more importantly in the private sector as well as through other government agencies.

The PAP is filled with ivory towered academics out of touch with the ground. We need to return to the '50s and '60s rugged pragmatism.

The real money and power is by rubbing shoulders with PAP .

You get to collect stamp fees and license fees .

Most Singaporean professors have left Singapore...

It is not that Sinkies don't want to do PhD and be an academician. After all, being a professor is quite prestigious and the pay is not that bad. Think the reason is that a PhD programme is very different from an undergraduate programme. Take Economics for example. It is easy to pass and even do well in the exam for the subject but Economics at PhD level is very tough. Economic theory is both analytical and mathematical. You need advanced mathematics like topology to understand growth theory and welfare economics...
