PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has called on all opposition and government MPs to reject the 2021 budget at the final vote this week.
The coalition’s secretariat council said the budget should be shot down as it does not fulfil the objectives of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, helping the people and reviving the economy.
“Malaysians are aware that what has been announced by the finance minister does not meet what has been requested and hoped for by many MPs and even the public.
“This includes issues involving the Employees Provident Fund, bank loan moratorium, aid for frontliners and those affected by Covid-19, our children’s education, decreasing income, loss of jobs, rising cost of living and many others” they said in a statement today.

The statement was signed by leaders of PKR, DAP and Amanah, namely Saifuddin Nasution, Loke Siew Fook and Hatta Ramli.
The call follows a joint press conference by former PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who urged MPs to go beyond party lines when voting on the budget.
