For those of you, who are unclear about the typical career path at accounting firms such as Ernst & Young, see below:
First year in Ernst & Young (right after University) – Associate Year 1.
Second year (after working with Ernst & Young for 1 year) – Associate Year 2.
Third year (after working with Ernst & Young for 2 years) – Senior Associate Year 1.
Fourth year (after working with Ernst & Young for 3 years) – Senior Associate Year 2.
Fifth year (after working with Ernst & Young for 4 years) – Assistant Manager.
It was indicated here (http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_649995.html) and here (http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/news/61280.html) that Tin Pei Ling is 27 years old and is an Associate at Ernst & Young. However, subsequent articles on her state that she is 28 years old and is a Senior Associate at Ernst & Young instead.
In her interview, see here (http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/news/61280.html) at 00:28, she explained that she is a December baby and hence she was 27 years old in December 2010 when she was writing her speech. It could be that Tin Pei Ling was an Associate Year 2 when she drafted the interview (in December 2010 hence wrote herself as working as an Associate in Ernst & Young) and was promoted to Senior Associate Year 1 in January 2011.
In her interview here (http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/news/61280.html) at 00:25, Tin Pei Ling has indicated that she is with Ernst and Young for the past four years.
Looking at the typical career patch at accounting firms mentioned above, it is unclear why Tin Pei Ling is just a Senior Associate Year 1 after working for 4 years in Ernst & Young. She should by right be an Assistant Manager. Did Tin Pei Ling “tiao” (not promoted) at Ernst & Young?
Let’s now try to work backwards to determine the period Tin Pei Ling joined Ernst & Young assuming she was promoted consecutively:
January 2011 – Senior Associate Year 1 (Tin Pei Ling at 28 years old in that year)
January 2010 – Associate Year 2 (Tin Pei Ling at 27 years old in that year)
January 2009 – Associate Year 1 (Tin Pei Ling at 26 years old in that year)
(If Tin Pei Ling started her first job at 26 years old, either she “tiao” at Ernst & Young or she repeated her O levels/PSLE/University some point in her life as a typical starting working age of females right after University is 22 years old. If Tin Pei Ling can “tiao” in her studies, why she still volunteers for grassroots? What are her motives? Her ultimate aim is to be identified as a PAP candidate?)
In her interview here (http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/news/61280.html) at 01:37, Tin Pei Ling has indicated that she has been married for 3 years which I assumed she was married at latest since March 2008 (3 years before the interview was carried out in March 2011) when she would turned 25 years old in that year.
It appears that Tin Pei Ling joined Ernst & Young around January 2009 (or slightly earlier) and it is likely that she joined Ernst & Young after she married her husband, Ng How Yue, Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Tin Pei Ling graduated with a psychology degree from NUS, however her job scope includes strategic thinking and planning, change management and performance management. See here (http://www.atoncenews.com/tin-pei-ling.html). It is unclear why Tin Pei Ling a non-business degree graduate could get a job from a prestigious firm working in a business-related field.
For the past few days, I have read many online comments that Tin Pei Ling might have got selected as a PAP candidate because of her husband’s relationship with the Prime Minister. Based on the above analysis, it is unclear whether Tin Pei Ling got her job at Ernst & Young because of “connections”.
See video here (http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/news/61280.html) at 03.25, where Tin Pei Ling was indicated by the PAP to be a role model for many other young women. If that is the case, Tin Pei Ling will need to come out clean whether she married her husband to gain popularity in PAP and whether she got her job at Ernst & Young because of “connections”. I don’t want such lose women and “tiao” in her career/studies to be the role model of my daughter.
And to all those PAP supporters out there, we citizens have every right to dig up the personal life of Tin Pei Ling because PAP has stated that Tin Pei Ling is PAP’s role model for Singaporean young women. If PAP can make such a statement, PAP should ensure every aspect of Tin Pei Ling’s life is clean otherwise she is not fit to be a role model for Singaporean young women.

makapaaa;689041... PAP has stated that Tin Pei Ling is PAP’s role model for Singaporean young women. If PAP can make such a statement said:
Are you waiting for the opposition parties to announce that they are going to field Mother Mary and Mother Teresa as candidates for Tg Pagar and Ang Mo Kio? God bless you!
