A brawl took place between a cab driver and three men on Monday, 2 January, leaving two men injured and the cabbie arrested.
According to The New Paper, the incident took place at Blk 185, Pasir Ris Street 11, where the cabbie parked his taxi at the side of the road to wait for his relief driver.
Three men approached the 58-year-old and told him that he was not allowed to park there. The cabbie complied and moved his vehicle to a dead-end road.
The three men approached him again, yelling at him and insisting that he was not supposed to park there.
Shortly after, the relief driver arrived and asked for them to stop their tirade.
But the three men didn't stop.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, the relief driver said that the three men continued to stand in front of the taxi while hurling vulgarities at the cabbies.
They also prevented the vehicle from leaving.
At this point, the agitated cabbie fetched a pair of scissors from his taxi.
One of the men in the group allegedly threw a punch at the cabbie, but instead received a cut to his face.
It remains unclear how the man's face was cut.
Witnesses also reported that another man among the three received a slash "from his belly button to the left side of his waist."
.
Passersby who tried to restrain the men did not manage to stop the brawl, which continued even after police arrived at the scene.
According to the police, the cabbie has been arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means.
Two men, age 35 and 63 have also been arrested for affray.
The relief cabbie, who witnessed everything, told reporters that his colleague had only caused hurt to the other man "when he defended himself"
