Three arrested for loansharking activities

SINGAPORE - Three man aged between 24 to 36 were arrested for suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.
Police officers spotted the men behaving suspiciously near Chai Chee Road on Monday, at about 1.25am.
During a check, loanshark-related items, including five mobile phones believed to contain debtors' records, four can of paints, one black marker and two pieces of papers containing debtor's records, were found on them.
They are allegedly involved in at least two cases of loanshark harassment by splashing paint and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of debtors' unit.
Two of the suspects aged 24 and 26 will be charged under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010) while investigation against the remaining suspect is on-going.
First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment will be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years, and be caned up to six strokes.
