TikTok user Willhelm, who is known as @dankeunextgay on the platform, went viral after he revealed that he bought Apple Time Capsule that still works, despite being over a decade old.
'The person who donated it did not delete their information off of it before they donated it, so I've connected it to my computer,' he explained in the video.
Willhelm panned the camera to his MacBook, which was in the process of downloading the hard drive.

'This is [kinda] scary,' he captioned the 22-second clip, which has been viewed more than 5.4 million times since it was posted on December 14.
In a follow-up video, Willhelm detailed all of the personal information that he found on Don's donated hard drive, from his bank account numbers to his pδrn collection.
'The Apple Time Capsule kind of works like Time Machine on a MacBook,' he said of the wireless router, which was discontinued in 2018.
'Instead of having just one backup, it has a whole list of backups. That way, if you want to go back to a certain period, you're able to just go there instead.
'So it's not just one copy of his computer, it's dozens from different time periods dating back from 2010,' he noted.

Based on the previous owner's tax information, which was available on the hard drive, he deduced that Don was either a business owner or a CEO.
'There is audit history, credit card numbers, flight information. I have this man's bank account number,' he explained. 'I can see how much money he had in the bank at one point. I even have his life insurance information, and this dude is worth millions of dollars.
'Now keep in mind, this is like from 2010, so he's probably dead by now. But still, the fact that I have access to this is crazy. Do not donate your old technology to Goodwill,' he stressed.
Willhelm added that he planned on deleting all of the personal information from the hard drive after he was done looking through it.
'It serves me no purpose, and I feel uncomfortable keeping other people's stuff,' he said. 'It was insane. And to answer the question that I know everyone's gonna ask, there was pδrn. So, there you have it.'

- Willhelm explained that the most recent update on the router was from 2010
'This is a NIGHTMARE of mine [and] exactly why I hoard every electronic I’ll ever have,' one person admitted.
'This is making me sweat and I’m not Don,' someone else wrote.
'It’s only been 12 years why is everyone saying he is dead?!' another asked.
Others thanked Willhelm for confirming there was pδrn on the hard drive.
'I'm glad you answered the ONE question on my mind at the end,' one viewer joked, while another added, 'That last question is all I wanted to know.'

The videos earned millions of views, and people flocked to the comments to share their thoughts
'I'd like more info on the [pδrn]. What kind? Self-made? Videos? Photos?' someone else asked. 'Don't leave us hanging.'
Willhelm ended up filming a third video in which he explained that he is trying to track down the previous owner's family, so he can return the pictures and documents.
'I don't feel comfortable having it, and I don't want to just delete it, so I'm gonna see if I can find someone to give it to,' he said.
Willhelm added that he was headed to other thrift stores in the area to see if he can find more devices because he wants to turn his sleuthing into a TikTok series.
