Local media AsiaOne reported that Singaporeans were upset that a British media gave President Tony Tan the moniker “Prime Miniature” in their humour piece.
In a picture published in the British newspapers, Mr Tan and his wife was seen standing next to Prince William and Duchess Catherine, who stood at least a head over Mr Tan.
The Sun newspaper edited the photo and added speech bubbles over Mr Tan and Prince William. The bubble above Prince William said, “Hello, I’m his Royal Highness,” while the one above Mr Tan said, “… and I’m the Prime Miniature”.
Below, the caption said, “Actually he’s the president but that wouldn’t have made a funny headline”.
AsiaOne said, “Singaporeans found the photo be an insult and many said that they did not find the supposed joke funny.”
TRS wanted to find out how “upset” Singaporeans were and how many Singaporeans were really "insulted", so we looked around a bit.
We took a look at how “upset” Singaporeans were on AsiaOne’s Facebook page.
Someone compared Mr Tan to Yoda. Maybe the white hair helped.
A person wondered if AsiaOne only interviewed the 80 Singaporeans sitting in parliament to write their article.
Then another person asked the government not to "put words into our mouth(s)" and to "Be a man, own up for once".
One person said he is not “upset” because he is the 65 percent “majority” who did not vote for Mr Tan.
Another person said that he is not “upset” and thought “KFC miniature” would be more a more apt description for Mr Tan.
One person asked point-blank, “Who is upset?”
A certain Ian Koh said what The Sun said was a fact – Mr Tan is “indeed a miniature”.
One person said to live and let live, and that, a “sense of humor is essential to live and survive in our world!”
Mr Harmie said, “We have more important things to do than to get upset over such petty and unimportant stuff.” Yes – Mr Tan is unimportant, we get it.
He also said how the real “survival” is to “work to our bones … in this pathetic place without mercy from the "leaders".”

So, that’s AsiaOne. Maybe our friends on the fuckwarezone Forums will be more “upset”.
Someone asked Mr Tan to sue The Sun and “Mai tu riao! (Don’t wait!)”.
