自二战中德国发明V1、V2系列火箭以来，导弹逐渐重塑了各国军队的作战模式。威力更强的洲际弹道导弹甚至能影响国际格局。
马岛战争期间，阿根廷空军用一枚20万美元的“飞鱼”导弹击沉了皇家海军2亿美元的“谢菲尔德”号驱逐舰。然而由于阿国力不济，重要武器无法自产又被国外卡脖子，最终败于英国。倘若当时阿根廷储备的“超军旗”攻击机和“飞鱼”导弹数量够多，战争的天平向谁倾斜还很难说。
这也警示我国，不能在战略武器的储备方面掉以轻心。2017年解放军拥有战略导弹2600枚，目前可能达到2800枚左右，包括各型近中程和洲际导弹。有不少军迷好奇甚至质疑，这些导弹够我国使用吗？实际上导弹的便宜只是相对的，尤其是像东风-26、东风-41这样大国重器更是价格不菲，若无必要绝不会轻易使用。但一经使用必定会起到四两拨千斤的效果。
据美国兰德公司推算，只需80枚东风导弹就可对美军亚太地区的56个军事基地进行有效打击，有的基地甚至会瘫痪一个月以上。且东风系列导弹核常兼备兼顾战略和战术打击能力。美国等大国尚且难以承受，其他国家更不用谈了。另外我国还有强大的常规军事力量，同导弹配合使用足以应对局部战争。据报道我国某导弹旅6年发射的现役导弹就达200枚。专家估计我国弹道导弹的产能每年达数百枚以上。另外我国还是世界第一大工业实体，若真正开足马力，产量将颠覆全球认知。（作者署名：军事D）
