The ball has begun rolling for the world's biggest solar plant, as the World Bank is willing to fund the Rs. 8,000 crore ($1.3 billion) “ultra mega solar power plant”. With this 750 MW power plant, the world will have its biggest solar power plant.
It will be set up in Madhya Pradesh, and will produce 200 MW more than the largest solar power plant in the world currently. India’s largest power-generating company, NTPC will set up the venture. The Modi government has allocated a ₹1,000 crore ($167 million) package ultra mega solar power plants (UMPPs) in the coming budget in the FY2014-15 budget.

India is likely the largest growth market for electricity. It is good news and heartening to know that the supply of energy is coming from Solar rather than from fossil fuels! The world has to get serious about pollution. Energy use is only going to increase.

Cheers!
