My assessment:

10% - pappies, their family and friends, and a core group of people who really honestly believe in them, not only for their own benefit.

10% - civil servants and people who work for stat boards who believe that their jobs and well being will be at stake if they vote otherwise, they may or may not believe in the policies.

10% - rich businessmen and top level corporate executives, i.e. those who have the ability to make key decisions like where to locate the factory, these are people who believe that having the pappies around benefits them and their businesses, they may or may not agree with what they do with respect to other matters.

10% - corporate executives (employee type) and other people who are comfortable with their lives and jobs, and feel there is no reason to rock the boat.

10% - the elderly who have seen the struggles of the old guard and how the country has developed over the years, they are mostly loyal to lky and his old guard and think the world of them, hence they will continue to do what they say.

10% - the strange group in my opinion, they are not doing well in their lives, some of them are struggling financially, some are unemployed, some are seriously in debt, some are almost desperate, but strangely, they continue to vote pap and are convinced that anything but pap will bring even worse things for them, as if things were not bad enough. As I said in another thread I started, some will these consider reading the straits times a status symbol.

These are the 60% of solid votes that they will get no matter what happens. How does the opposition overcome this?

I don't look it that way. It should be:-

85% stayed in HDB already felt the stress of having foreigners squeezing into their space.

70% travel by public transport felt the MRT and buses have became overcrowded by foreigners.

80% of local businessmen who make up the largest employers in Singapore already felt the high cost of rental, utilities and unfair competitions from GIC-linked establishments.

30% (and still increasing) of those fell into the crack - has resented PAP policies all along

True local elite were not given scholarship but instead awarded to foreigners who have no link and no contributions to Singapore.

Workers, who formed the bulk of Singapore labour force, see discrimination from Government and private company where advertisements were put up in foreign land to recruit aliens.

New voters (youngsters) probably make up the bulk of eligible voters now, felt they never see Singapore their home due to high cost of livings and depressing wages.

66.6% voted for PAP in last election - I beleived half have felt betrayed and unhappy now.

If 2.5 million Singaporeans are still happy having 1.5 foreign intruders in their backyard to create havoc and mounting fees hike across all living expenses, than Singaporeans are really daft. With this, let's see how many percentage of intelligent Singaporeans we have at the ballot box.

If PAP win another mandate to create genocide in years to come. Singapore is not worth fighting for and I advise those who has the mean to emigrate, bring your children with you and never look back.

Overall the pinch was felt across the board regardless of which categories they belong.

I've read a few of your posts and you always sound very negative. I am surprised that you haven't slit your throat into two while buttering your sliced bread.

Today, i realise that you are totally inept at even deciphering your brain, so I won't blame youpersonally.

For your 10% premise to work, all 100% within each of every group that you mentioned, will vote for the PAP. Also, each group forms 10% of the voting population. This is of course totally absurd.

You should join the PAP. They need people like you there.

Won't be 66.6% this time round, it will be lower, but by how much remains to be seen.

Frankly, the opening of the floodgates to all the FTs numbering a staggering 1.5million, takes the cake.
