Once upon a time there was a a wise father, his wife and many children.
All of them lived in a hamlet on a piece of land that wasn't theirs.
The foreign landlords cared only for their "own" people and not the locals.
One day this wise father managed to secure the whole hamlet from the landowners
He built a house for his own family and the other people there.
It was a modest home for all and quite comfortable.
Most important their home stood on "their very own" land.
He introduced fresh water and electricity into this homes.
The old communal wells and kampong generators became obsolete.
His family and other folks sloughed it out hard every day. They stood by him.
Slowly the kids got married and settled down.
The family increased fast. All were happy. Then the Wise Father gave an order "To Stop at Two".
He and members of his family became autocratic and the others started to drift apart.
The kids of that Father cared less for the other and only thought for themselves.
They forgot about past poverty and slavish conditions imposed by demanding foreign landlords.
In short they became the very demons that they once successfully exorcised.
The old man tried his best to bring things to order.
But things wasn't the same as they ought to be and started to drift further apart.
Grandchildren became divided and lost the important lands that they once monopolised.
Into this fertile lands came new tenants that won the hearts of the other tenants.
The many descendants of that wise father could not see eye to eye with this new tenants.
They viewed them as Enemies and not Friends.
This led to the division of the once upon a time happy family.
The chipping away of the once solid foundations started and decadence crept in.
The wise old man only then realised his own folly.
He has been the cause of the ruination of his own Happy Family.
