The PAP is bankrupt of any ideas to move Singapore forward into the future, as it is still stuck in the 1960s economic plan for creating jobs that are dependent on multi-nationals looking for cheap labor, and accommodate the demand for cheap labor by allow mass inflow of labor from Third World Countries.
The slogans for ‘Productivity’ were quickly forgotten when it had been the call by the NTUC and the Cabinet Ministers since Goh Chok Tong was PM for two 5-year terms.
Can Singapore be a First World Country – when the PAP Political LEEdership believe that it has all the intellect and talent in its 20 odd-man Cabinet compared to the sum total of 3-odd Million of Singapore Citizens ?
If anything at all, the PAP’s Mentor is belching his own wishful pipe-dream after a sumptuous meal to write of his journey from “Third World to First”.
The PAP Political LEEdership has refused, or in complete denial, or fearful of the truth that Singapore not progressed over the last 43 years since stepping in political power in 1959, but has gone one full circle in which Singaporeans are struggling today as much as the generations in the 1950s facing a similar uncertain future.
The earlier generations at least had more to hope when there was the British Colonial Government to moderate and negate the attempts by a younger and inexperienced LKY to abuse the Internal Security Act on Singaporeans.
