Some background info. Double bay is a well establish suburb in Sydney that is known for its expensive restaurant, shops, houses. Most millionaires stay there, think of it as District 9 or Holland Village in Singapore. Even if you are rich you can still be a thief. I wonder how much the million dollar salary holds up to this. Million dollar salary just means you are able to steal more I suppose.

Who is the Double Bay Flower Thief?

It's the scandal of Sydney, the crime the eastern suburbs had to have and an incident that has left the city's upper crust asking: ''Who is the Double Bay Flower Thief?''

For those not already in the know, here's the story: on Tuesday morning the co-owner of the Pink Salt restaurant and bar, Evan Hansimikali, arrived at work and noticed the day's flower delivery hadn't been made. ''Yes it has,'' his florist insisted, so Evan went to check the security cameras - and was amazed at what he saw.

Sometime after the delivery, a new(ish) BMW pulls up and a well-dressed woman carrying a Louis Vuitton bag gets out. She wanders over to the restaurant, takes a look around, then picks up the flowers and puts them in the back of her car.

Locking the door (well, you can't be too careful, can you?), she sets off shopping for an hour or so before driving away.

''When we saw it, our jaws hit the ground,'' Hansimikali said. ''It was just … bewildering how brazen she was about it.''

As one does in this age of social media, Hansimikali immediately uploaded the footage to YouTube and it went viral. Double Bay police said they were aware of the incident and would be following it up. And they might have a good lead. ''Funnily enough, I just took a call from someone who had seen the video and they said they were looking at our woman,'' Hansimikali said yesterday afternoon.

''They recognised the bag and then saw her get into a BMW, so they took some pictures and sent them over.'' The plot thickens.

To see the video, head to YouTube and search for ''Pink Salt Flower Thief''.

In Spore we have 87+ year old millionaires/billionaires who are still not happy:eek:

Some even call a six figure sum "peanuts"

Exactly, the argument that having a million dollar salary would attract the right talent is just wrong. If anything, it would attract people that are prone to being money centric.

Big money attract greedy people, not the right people. Do you agree?

Can't say it better, why has this argument never been made about the million dollar salary? I found out recently that Julia Gillard only getting $360K and only half that is the base salary the rest are allowances. So, we have crap politician in Australia because they are not paid millions like in Singapore?

JG has a lot more perks, including free lifetime travel and comfortable pension. None of the PAP ministers can survive Aussie or even China politics without inflicting battle scars. Julia is weak because the party Left is controlling her, including her ascend to PMship.

Voters know that they have a dud PM, and they should be blaming themselves for creating a hung parliament. Countdown: 2 years left to fix this problem.

hi there

1. bro, 5 thumbs up, man!
2. the richer the individual gets, the greedier it gets too!
3. that's why no compassion for the rich anywhere.

Indeed, non of the PAP minister can handle Australian/overseas politics. Even, Malaysian politics are more colourful then the bland, "We know best" in Singapore. Are you saying all the ministar in Singapore no perks at all?

I did not say that. No Singaporeans are supposed to know :D

Besides the usual director fees, honorariums, free gifts :D The family members get good business deals, kids get "Get quickly out of NS" cards ... :D
eg my cousin do not have to work for his entire life thanks to his elite daddy.

Living in Melbourne and look down on ex-'lesser mortal' me, he is like a lot of PAP ministers' kids - all overseas.

Anyway, I live my life and I try not to let others manage my money. Very important.

Exactly, the allowance and perks for the aussie politician would not amount to a couple of millions as well. Sure, they get perks here and there but as a country this is what we say to them as a form of thank you for their services to the country. It is all listed in black and white, if there are any contention as it being inappropriate it would be changed. Unlike in Singapore where these things are never black and white.

You should add "Guess what race?" haha... You know, those kind whose ancestors come from middle east. Alot of them in the double-bay/eastern suburbs area.

update, apparently they still haven't figured out who she is.
THE UPDATE
Lily-livered thief is at large
The mystery of The Double Bay Flower Thief has deepened, with the finger being pointed at one well-heeled and well-known woman in the Sydney social circuit.
Advertisement: Story continues below
The woman, who had been caught on camera as she nicked the day's floral delivery from outside Pink Salt restaurant in the exclusive suburb on Tuesday, was recognised by more than a few people who watched the footage on YouTube and the circle of vigilantes in pearls and twin-sets started closing in.
One of the Diary's informants rang to say she spotted the woman that same Tuesday and identified not only her, but the scarf and bag which she hadn't changed since her venture into the world of crime earlier in the day.
Really? Come on lady. Even the most inexpert of criminals know to ditch their outfit after the robbery. And that late model BMW getaway car? That should be a burnt- out hulk by now. Haven't you seen CSI?
The restaurateur at the centre of it all, Pink Salt co-owner Evan Hansimikali, said he met police last night and there had been no arrest, but an off-duty officer who also recognised the woman has handed over pics of what they think is the getaway Beemer, complete with number plate.
''The police did say with something like this if she hasn't got a record she'll probably just get off with a fine,'' he said. ''I just hope she learns from it all and doesn't do something stupid like this again.''
More, most definitely, to come.
