is, in my view, Ng Eng Hen. Hardly any Opposition MP or PAP MP questions him about MINDEF/SAf matters. When those questions come up, they are usually the "Is NS necessary--yes it is" questions which get the same replies and same endorsements. No intensive questions about Detention Barracks, SAF court martials, abuse during training etc etc.

National defense is a sacred (and profitable) cow. There is nothing to ask.

Once in a while some conscript dies during training and only then does he need to make a few statements, that's all.

The HEN won't answer any questions because everything in MINDEF is Top Secret. He can't even tell people how much more he makes relative to his fellow ministers.
