SINGAPORE - A motorist who was travelling at speeds of up to 215 kmh along the Central Expressway (CTE) in July 2021, caused an accident with four other vehicles and a motorcyclist’s death.
On Monday, Ng Wen Xun, 35, who had failed to keep within the 80 kmh speed limit while she was driving a car, was sentenced to 30 months’ jail and disqualified from holding or obtaining all classes of driving licences for 10 years from her release date.
She had pleaded guilty to two charges under the Road Traffic Act.
Ng was speeding along the CTE towards Seletar Expressway at around 9.20pm on July 23, 2021, when she failed to maintain proper control of her vehicle, and it struck a centre guard railing before veering to the left.
Her vehicle then collided into a motorcycle, throwing its 31-year-old rider onto the road.
Following that, her car veered right and struck a second motorcycle, a lorry and another car.
The second motorcyclist, 28, was also flung onto the road, while the lorry toppled onto its right side, causing two of its Bangladeshi passengers to be flung from their rear passenger seats onto the road.

Ng’s car then hit the left side guard railing along the CTE, came to a halt and caught fire.
The authorities were alerted soon after, and the older motorcyclist was unconscious when an ambulance took him to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He died of multiple injuries later that evening.
Most of the other motorists were also taken to the same hospital, said Deputy Public Prosecutor Chin Jincheng.
One of the Bangladeshis, 26, suffered injuries, including a fracture to his left wrist, and was discharged with nine days of medical leave. The other Bangladeshi, 50, who was found with fractures to his spine, was hospitalised for nine days.
The younger motorcyclist survived the crash with injuries, including wounds to his hands. He was warded for one night and was discharged with five days of medical leave.

The DPP said that at the time of the accident, traffic volume was moderate, the road surface was dry, the weather was fine, visibility was fair, and the street lightings were in good working condition.
A report from the Health Sciences Authority later stated that just prior to the crash, Ng had been travelling at speeds of between 118 kmh and 215 kmh.
Her bail was set at $15,000 on Monday, and she is expected to surrender herself at the State Courts on June 12 to begin serving her sentence.

SINGAPORE - A 31-year-old motorcyclist died after an accident on Friday night (July 23) on the Central Expressway (CTE) behind Cuppage Plaza near Orchard Road. Six others were also injured.
Footage and photos circulating online showed a motorcyclist lying unconscious on the expressway, with vehicle debris strewn close by.
Metres away, a lorry lay on its side, while a car was ablaze with billowing grey smoke.
Another video showed at least a dozen Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) firefighters putting out the blaze, with at least two fire trucks and a police car at the scene.
With the fire extinguished, the burnt shell of the car on the expressway shoulder could be seen facing against traffic, with its bonnet crumpled from the impact.
The police said in a statement that a car, taxi, lorry and two motorcycles were involved in the accident along the CTE towards the Seletar Expressway (SLE) after the Cavenagh Road exit.
It was alerted to the accident at 9.18pm on Friday.

Two male motorcyclists, the female car driver, the male lorry driver and his three passengers were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, according to the authorities.
One of the motorcyclists, who was 31 years old, later died from his injuries in the hospital.
Police investigations are under way.
The CTE tunnel before the Cairnhill Circle entrance was closed due to the accident, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) tweeted at 9.25pm.
LTA said that the congestion stretched till the Merchant Road exit, and asked motorists to avoid lanes two and three on the expressway.

The SCDF said that when firefighters arrived at the scene, all the lanes were heavily congested.
"A car was completely engulfed in flames, and a lorry and two motorcycles were found turned on their sides. No one was trapped," it said in a Facebook post around 12.30am on Saturday.

SCDF Emergency Medical Services personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on one person who had no pulse and was not breathing.
CPR was also administered on the person on the way to the hospital. Firefighters put out the fire with fire extinguishers, two compressed air foam backpacks and two water jets.

Motor who perished probably cyclist a coloured minority so its not really serious.
30 months for manslaughter is a good deal.
No need to pay for damages too. Insurance took care of that despite breaking the law for speeding.
No need to pay for medical. The victims paid for her damages themselves.

Average F1 Car Speed – We Pulled the REAL Data (2023)

Written by Professionals HQ in OTHER SPORTS,Racing

Formula 1 cars are among the quickest vehicles ever created. These cars, however, are designed for a combination of performance and race efficiency rather than straight-line speed.
They are designed to be as fast as possible on a racing track.
The average speed of current Formula 1 vehicles is a little more difficult to calculate than you may expect.
The top speeds of F1 cars vary significantly from top racing speeds and top cornering speeds.
While F1 cars are famous for their high speed, they’re not that good at acceleration. So even if a driver starts slow in an F1 race, he catches up and sometimes even wins the race.
What’s more, the reduced acceleration in formula one cars preserves the tires and other essential components. This, in turn, help improve the racing abilities throughout the race.
Without further ado, let’s find out the average speed of F1 cars and get into more detail about speeds.

Average F1 Car Speed

A Formula 1 car is like a tamed wild horse. There is an enormous amount of energy slumbering deep inside, which, however, has not been fully exploited due to years of domestication.
With horses, you need reins for this; in Formula 1, the regulations of the FIA take over this function.
Formula 1 cars have an average speed of 223KPH (138MPH) and have been known to reach a top speed of 360KPH (223MPH).
These vehicles have a 0 to 100KPH (62MPH) acceleration time of 2.4 seconds and turning speeds of 300KPH (186MPH). F1 cars are the fastest vehicles on a racetrack.

This is astonishing given the size of modern F1 vehicles, yet there are records of Formula 1 cars reaching extraordinary speeds outside of official races.
A Formula 1 car’s straight-line speed is only restricted by its aerodynamics and power-weight ratio.
These cars are incredibly fast on a track but are less quick when looking at outright speed.
Some F1 cars have been observed going at speeds above 400 kilometers per hour (more than 248MPH).
These speeds are seldom witnessed in F1 races, but given enough room and a talented driver under the correct conditions, these cars are far faster than many people know.
Still, these cars are not the quickest in a straight when looking at all motorsport, but they are among the fastest cars in the world.
Here are the average speeds by racetrack:

SINGAPORE – A car crashed into a lamp post in Tanjong Pagar Road in the early morning on Dec 15, following a car chase by the police.
The police said their officers were driving along South Bridge Road at about 4.35am when they spotted a car travelling at high speed and signalled to the driver to stop.
Refusing to comply, the driver sped off and allegedly lost control of his vehicle during the ensuing pursuit by police officers. The car then crashed into a lamp post, and the driver and his passengers fled on foot towards Tras Street.
Chinese-language news outlet Shin Min Daily News reported that the accident happened near 81 Tanjong Pagar Road, which is 140m away from a fatal crash site in 2021, according to Google Maps. Five people were killed in that accident, in which the car burst into flames after the crash.
Following the Dec 15 crash, a 22-year-old female passenger and a 32-year-old male passenger were arrested for suspected drug-related offences.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the accident at about 4.40am.
The 32-year-old man, who was conscious, was subsequently taken to Singapore General Hospital.

The Straits Times has learnt that the driver and three of his passengers are still at large.
A woman who lives near the crash site told Shin Min that her husband heard a loud bang after he woke up for work and that he saw the car spin upon crashing into the lamp post.
She added that he saw three to four people attempting to escape the scene, running in different directions, before one was caught by the police.
Photos provided by another eyewitness show a woman with orange hair handcuffed and being questioned by police.
Police investigations are ongoing.

SG Road are too narrow and manay bends...not ideal for speed beyond 80km/h honestly

Especially if the road is wet and visibility is poor

It's better to cull these women. They're a hazard to society.

Maybe she was humping the gear stick while driving, she got too excited and she lost control of both the car and herself.
