china has admitted that they ve overlooked certain important details of 3-GORGES. sgp on the other hand is still very proud about MARINA BARRAGE. the nation however is still puzzled as to why flooding is now more evident than b4 when MB isn't up yet. is pap too ashamed to admit that they hv goofedd too billionly to admit such a mistake?

once in 50 yrs freak storm has occurred not once but including sunday would be the 4th times.

The only problem 3 Gorges dam is relocation million people and submerge some historical site. In the end prevent major flood last year prove that 3 gorges dam realy work.
In KL Malaysia they have SMART tunnel that really work to reduce flood effect. Since operation it had prevent flood or reduce flood level.
Singapore ministers and planner really need to learn from 3 world country.
Singapore ministers only blame nature but are over paid more than 10 time on world average minister salary.

It is not comparable. Not just due to the size. The terrains are drastically different.

We are a relatively flat island while PRC is continental mainland. The Yangzi is a Huge River flowing from snow mountain's springs of Tibet to the Pacific, there is ELEVATION.

Elevation is very important, because the water can only flow with the potential energy which came from the ELEVATION. Yangzi's water flow down many many thousands of feet of ELEVATION. Our Bukit Timah is a tiny hill and most of the distance of flow in our rivers have just only little ELEVATION.

When there is sufficient ELEVATION you can build a dam. You can then use the potential energy to produce hydro-power. When you have the ELEVATION water will flow downwards towards ocean. Even if you get flood it will flow away in no time.

This is like if you lived in 12th floor of HDB flat you have ELEVATION and you danger of suffering floods is very low. Even if the water tanks ruptured on your roof, you can only expect a very brief shower and the water will leave you ASAP. If your house was the ground floor your danger of flood is much higher because you have little ELEVATION. Either the water coming down from above you will flood you, or the tide rising up from your drains will flood you. And you will be remain flooded as long as there is no better place for the fucking water to go to.

in other words, million$ paying minitoot can't solve chickenshit problem as compare to economically paid PRCs who solve major power supply and other major problems in china.
