I used to like bringing my family to sentosa for short breaks and even stay at rasa sentosa for a few nights.

In those days, it was quiet, rustic and peaceful compared to the mainland. Except for underwater world which drew in the crowds, almost everywhere else was not crowded.

Then the destruction started. Our PAP's concept of success is overcrowding! They saw the need to see carparks packed to the brim, long queues for food/rides/entry to attractions, more hotels, more and more people. Thats the definition of success!

Vivo city was built.

Then more and more budget hotels along siloso beach.

Then monorail into sentosa from vivo.

Then song of the sea crap at siloso beach.

Then the luge came, together with shops selling T-shirts (dont know why), caps and beach wear, fastfood.

Now the IR.

Sentosa is a goner as far as I'm concerned. The peace and tranquility totally destroyed by the PAP.

i hide under a canal in dense undergrowth and only ten minutes walk from a very crowded MRT station

peace and quiet in the midst of a crazy city.

many such places - must explore. cemeteries used to be quiet, last time only occasional army or police group running through, now got students, got spi, got 1st and 15th lunar month groups, wah lao, even ghosts not resting in peace

only thing about canals you must be careful during rains due to sudden rush, mosquitoes but not a problem to me cos i hardened liao

not only sentosa..... its happening to whole of spore... for the sake of money everything old is been discarded even though its working nicely and public funds used to rebuilt completely sound buildings.....

Oh come on...even the beach is a fake one! Now with the influx of Banglas to enjoy free casino refreshments, do avoid at all costs!

I recommend Bintan over a weekend. If not, pls stay at home and enjoy cable tv. :0)
