I find his quote very applicable to the way we live our lives.

Thanks for sharing Mod Wind!

I like his writings, mostly concise and lucid, given the subject matter. :)

But at the same time, I also see him as a XXXXXXX XXX of the West. :D

Agree.

That's why people at our vintage ..... agar ai happy ok already .....!!:):D

There is one advice he gave people -

If you have a problem and you have a solution, then you have nothing to worry.
If you have a problem and you do not have a solution, then it makes no sense to worry.

It's easy for him to idle all day long to dream up those impressive motherhood statements without having to work, after conning people into his religion and mindlessly donate their hard earned money to support his living means and political ends. You try to take his impressive advice, stop working and go enjoy life as how he says it should be lived and let's see how. Religion sucks, literally. It sucks your brain juice from thinking logically as your brains are born to be. Same goes for other religions.

Can't really blame him as he was born into it. Why work when there are there are the masses willing to pay for the upkeep and also worship the ground you walk on? You can also say the same for Prataman, the Sultans in Malaysia and Brunei and the Queen of England. Do not direct it at one guy only. Besides he dispenses some wisdom, what about the Queen of England? This does not apply to religion per se.

Monarchies inherit the rights to reign by the blood of their forebears. That's why there's no need to elect monarchs. When time comes during which people want democracy, the monarchs let them elect their governments in exchange for recognising the monarchs' rights to reign. That's constitutional monarchy. For if they insist on absolute monarchy, they may risk civil war and outright declaration of republic. That's historical and legal rights.

I don't get your drift as the Dalai Lama is also chosen and accepted by his people. So why are you directing your comment at him only? You mean to say the Dalai Lama not being the same as the Queen of England should be working for a living?

My drift is all religions are con jobs preying on weak minds. All monarchies were started with a leader and people's political and military support to define their own country and their own destiny. Some monarchs do claim divinity, e.g. the Japanese emperor. US fucked him properly and forced him to renounce divinity. What's divinity? What god, what ghost? He was obviously being made used of by militant factions to bluff and blind his own people. If he's god and so powerful, why renounce? His renunciation of divinity saved his throne and liberated the Japanese people.

Does it matter if it is divinity, religion or inheritance? Different cultures have different paths that will put somebody up there as a figurehead, even Singapore. It all boils down to men needing a symbol that represent their ideals. One cannot say it is alright to have a Queen but wrong to have a Dalai Lama. You still have not answered why it is wrong for him not to work but it is ok if he inherited his position like the Queen of England.

You're asking the wrong question. Since when have I said it's wrong. I only said people who believe in religion are weak minded and willing pay out the money. There's no right or wrong. It's their money afterall, not mine. But, it's my right to comment with my opinion.

Bro, not saying that you cannot comment. I was curious why his homily strikes you as literally saying forget working and just enjoy your life. I don't think he meant that at all. As to slanting it that people who believe in religion are weak-minded, well, I leave it that to those who want to argue. I am a free-thinker and I don't want to foist my belief to others and neither would want others to do the same to me. Live and let live, but I do not want to connect the man with his religion, only what he said that applies to me.

Just as you would not want religious people to preach to you, neither should you preach your disbelief to others too. That is my take on this.

On the contrary, I love religious people to preach to me. That's when I can fuck them upside down without being accused of starting the fight. ;)

Well, excuse me then. If you want to ante the quarrel you can find plenty by going to the mosque and churches and have a field day. Just make sure you down burn their house of worship.:D

A thread on philosophy turned into a religious thread? What happened?

Can this be moderated and fixed? :D

As long as we are civil and not allow it to blow up, it is ok. Sometimes people tend to shoot the messenger rather than the message.:(

No, like I say in my earlier posting, I won't bother them unless they bother me first.

No, I have no intention at all of shooting at you, if you're referring to yourself as the messenger. I see that as a good opening of topic for discussion. I'm addressing the message.
