Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25… and it’s not because that’s when Jesus was born
https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/5...stmas-dec-25-and-its-not-when-jesus-was-born/

The nativity didn't take place in December at all

But is December 25 actually the date that Jesus was born?

We have celebrated Christmas on this date since the fourth century
It turns out that is pretty unlikely – and he was probably born in the spring or autumn.

In fact, no one knows the exact date of the birth, and the bible doesn’t specify a date.

The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine - the first Christian Roman Emperor.

A few years after that, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated then.

The birth of Jesus was unlikely to have been in December
The reason for the choice of December 25 goes back to an ancient belief that prophets died on the same date they were conceived.

Believing Jesus died on March 25, early theologians pinpointed that as the date of the annunciation, when Mary was told she would have the baby.

December 25 is nine months after that and was, therefore, chosen as the birth date.

But historians who have studied the bible have concluded the birth of Jesus was more likely to be in the spring or autumn for three reasons.

Firstly, the shepherds tending their flocks on the hills at night were unlikely to do that in the winter, when the flocks were often moved to lower ground.

Secondly, they believe that the census which brought Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem would have taken place either in the Jewish festival of Passover in spring or The Feast of the Tabernacle in autumn, when many travelled to Jerusalem and Bethlehem for the celebrations.

I oredi made a thread on this and the thread was moved to religion section.

The shortest day of the year is in December 25 and many Pagan Gods used this day to celebrate the coming of hard winter soon.

Ask the Chinese will tell you more.

Christian Jews in the Roman Empire joined in the celebration on this day on the birth of their messiah Jesus.

Nothing significant of the birth of Jesus rather for convenient celebrate with other Pagan Gods.

Anything else u wnt to know?

If you are truly a Christian, you will know that December 25 is never the birthdate of Jesus Christ; the bible never stated any dates. For convenience, in church history...years ago....they Decided to celebrate it on December 25th.

Are Christians required to know that in order to gain salvation? Basic christian doctrine is that christians need to believe that Jesus was crucified for atonement for their sins and that He rose from the dead.

Nobody knows the actual date of Jesus' birth. But there were ways to get a good estimate. A roman census was taken just before his birth. There was an unusually bright star. You could use actual historical records to get an estimate of the actual date.

No, you don't even need to celebrate Christmas to gain salvation....we celebrate the birth of a King who came to die for our sins. Celebrating anything doesn't mean anything...for the innocence of it all, it should be a nice time of the year to gather friends & family together & that is the meaning.

Christmas is the most inclusive holiday in the world. It is both a religious and secular celebration. As you said, friends and family gather to celebrate, regardless of religion. We had a few grassroots christmas parties for the local residents. We try to do the same for the Hari Raya out of political correctness, but the turnouts are not as good.

Most people can relate to Christmas and its values.

The next most inclusive holiday would be the chink new year. Most people would like a fresh start for the new year, especially if they fucked up Jan 1st. They get to do over their year a couple of weeks later.
