Thai elections allow you to cast a NO VOTE, which is a mandatory choice on any ballot, for voters to indicate that they don't chose any of the candidates whose names are on the ballot. That is BETTER and more REASONABLE than SG. You don't need to spoil vote if you didn't want to vote for any of the listed / available candidate.

Political party which nominated no candidate for some reason can campaign for voters to cast this NO VOTE. I think in the current election there is such campaign by the Yellow shirt.

The pro-establishment People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) would start a nationwide campaign for "vote no" from June 4, PAD core leader Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang said on Thursday.

"We see that the coming general election will make no betterment for the country and therefore we would urge voters to vote 'No' at the July 3 polls", the retired general said.

He said the group would form a committee for protecting the Thai Kingdom in every province in a bid to jointly launch the ' vote no' campaign alongside.

"Several poll results showed that more than 50% of eligible voters had yet to make decision to support any particular political party," Maj Gen Chamlong said, adding that he had a confidence that about 5-10% of the voters would make vote no at the polls.

The PAD, aka yellow-shirt movement, has proposed 'vote no' campaign as an alternative for the upcoming election, citing Thai people should not let wicked politicians to enter the parliament. They believe this measure will finally lead to political reform in the country.

====

Thai election have sufficient time given to all parties for campaigning. 2-3 months usually.

====

Thais allow those away from home town and those on duty on polling day, to cast early poll so that they don't have to bother to vote on actually polling day.
