I met a French guy in Bangkok years ago. We used to bump onto each other at Asoke pier. When he found out that I was from Singapore, he immediately started speaking Singlish to me. I farked him on the spot.

Of course in general sinkies speak pretty good english in comparison to the neighbouring countries but still it's not as good enough and there are many sinkies with pronounciation problems.

But, it is better to keep up with the correct one just in case you need it when you are on your biz trip or tour.

It's a habit to deliberately speak with the right accent too. The accent thing will also skew the oral language from 95% clarity to 65%. For Asian to Asian comm maybe still okay but not to ang moh.

Talking to an ang moh is a bit problematic sometimes. The speed and tone do affect the smoothness of the delivery. You need to speak like Queen Eliza ? Heard it was the standard. Must change coffee to tea ?
