After 15 years, woman seeks to sue hospital who misdiagnosed her with HIV

Suthida Sangsumart was diagnosed with AIDS when she was 8 years old by a doctor from the Suvarnabhumi Hospital in Roi Et province after her father passed away from the same disease.
Now, 15 years later, Suthida is suing the Suvarnabhumi Hospital because as it turns out — she’s not HIV positive.
Earlier this week, Suthida and her lawyer Songkran Achariyasab allowed members of the media to watch her latest blood test at the Thai Red Cross Society’s Anonymous Clinic. “She wept when the clinic doctor revealed the results of two blood tests, confirming her belief that she was not suffering from HIV,” reported The Nation.
Four years ago when she was pregnant, she started doubting the doctor’s diagnosis.
“I started taking the medicine on HIV disease since then. I had to move to Samut Prakarn province after people in my hometown disliked me because of my father’s cause of death and the doctor’s diagnosis that I had Aids,” she said in The Nation’s report.
Suthida has spent the last 15 years taking HIV medications and living with the stigma of having AIDS. The psychological and physical trauma was enough to make her file for “severe disciplinary action against the doctors at the hospital” who misdiagnosed her.
The Suvarnabhumi Hospital in Roi Et is yet to issue a statement as of posting.
