Customs officials at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat airport Tuesday handed over a Thai person to police for allegedly smuggling six kilograms of drugs into Vietnam.
According to customs officials, on Monday the 30-year-old Thai national was caught with 20 packets of methamphetamine in a double-layered suitcase when he arrived at the airport on a flight from Doha, Qatar.

Earlier, on March 31, customs officials also found a Vietnamese carrying 5.9 kilograms of drugs in his suitcase as he was about to board a flight bound for Sydney, Australia.
Vietnam has some of the world’s toughest drug laws, which include the death sentence for those convicted of smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin.
