Texas Islamic scholar Mohamad Baajour said in an August 9, 2025 lecture at the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) that South Africa is a “beautiful country,” rich with diamonds, but warned that there is a beginning of Zionist “interference to ruin the country, just like they ruined every other country.” Baajour, who immigrated to the U.S. from Lebanon, serves as EPIC’s director for education and community development.
Mohamad Baajour: "Everywhere you go in Johannesburg and Cape Town – the flags of Palestine. As a matter of fact, there is no Muslim home that doesn't have the flag of Palestine in their house. Graffiti on the streets [says] Palestine, Gaza – all over, because they went through the same thing.

"Like I mentioned, the relationship is very good between the Muslims and the and the non-Muslims. And there is a beginning of Zionist interference to ruin the country, just like [they do] everywhere.
