Temasek Review down from massive DDOS attacks

Dear readers,

Our server suffered a huge DDoS attack today from 6am to 11am, causing our site to go offline during that period.

Although our server comes with basic Anti DDoS protection, the attack our server suffered was in excess of 50mbps, causing our Apache Web Server to crash due to the massive amount of connections.

We have since consulted our hosts and will be upgrading our Anti DDoS coverage to WatchGuard Hardware Firewall, providing more robust protection.

Additionally, we received feedback from some readers that they are unable to access our sites at times unless through a proxy. We have investigated these issues with our host and have determined that certain readers with dynamic IPs may be assigned an IP address blacklisted by DShield, which is blocked by our firewall automatically.

Readers experiencing the above might want to restart their Modem so that they can be assigned a fresh IP thats not blocked by our firewall.

We wish to apologise for the downtime and any inconvenience which we may have inadvertedly caused.

You guys have been doing a great job in bringing us news but asking others to reboot their computer just to visit your site?

Com'on man, there must be a better way to resolve it. You cannot expect your readers to be inconvenienced just because you cannot solve your technical issues leh. Will lose a lot of readers if this continues.

I'm not technical trained but could it be because of the huge number of readers constantly trying to access the site unsuccessful that caused it to appear like a DDos attack? If not, can find out who attack you? It would be interesting to know who finds the site threatening...

If anyone wants to take down TR, it would be from hackers of whom just want some fun or best, a virus infested server of which maintainance was lacking.

TR is no threat to anyone. Why? because TR till date has yet any ability to really unlock any stories that can put any one in real trouble.
