The Temasek Foundation is committing $100 million to fund philanthropic activities in Asia over the next five years, especially in technical education and urban planning.This matches the $20 million it has spent annually over the past five years on causes ranging from education to research and health care. It launched 139 programmes in 17 countries, benefiting 23,000 people over that period.Set up with a $500 million endowment by Temasek Holdings, the foundation marks its fifth anniversary on Wednesday.Chief executive officer Benedict Cheong told The Sunday Times that countries hoping to boost their pools of skilled workers have been seeking help with technical and vocational training and urban management and planning.
