Techno group leader arrested on rape charges

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- In a ramped up crime sweep, the National Police Agency arrested the ringleader of a renowned "Techno San Tai Zi" (電音三太子) group on charges of sexual assault and narcotics on Friday.
Law enforcement officers yesterday arrested Tseng Huai-de (曾懷德), the leader of a renown techno San Tai Zi troupe, and six other suspects on charges of raping a number of young women, some of them underage.
According to the police, the San Tai Zi troupe have been hosting wild sex parties at motels, and supplying guests with various narcotics such as ketamine, liquid ecstasy and ketamine-laced cigarettes.
The police found that at these parties, members of the San Tai Zi troupe assaulted women who became unconscious after ingesting narcotics and raped them. Many of the women were later turned out for prostitution by members of the troupe, said the police.
The troupe boasts the distinction of having been selected to perform at the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung (高雄世運).
In a raid at the troupe's residences and office on Friday, the police uncovered 8 kilograms of narcotics including amphetamines, ecstasy and ketamin, in addition to a variety of firearms and ammunition.
Tseng, the troupe's ringleader, and six other suspects were arrested on charges including organized crime, possession of narcotics and weapons as well as statuary rape.
