..... and make conference calls thru Skype or MS Lync?

I am getting contradicting answers from salespeople at Challenger and what I've read on the web.

I'm getting sick of lugging so many accessories around. Basically I want to get a Bluetooth headset for my calls on my mobile and VOIP con calls on my laptop.

Can the tech gurus here please enlighten?

Btw your laptop if its new should have built in blue tooth function so does not need a dongle

Thanks for the reply bro... My laptop has a built in Bluetooth adapter and I've been using it to transfer files. So so problem there.

However, I've been told something about "voice data mapping incompatibility" that is stopping off-the-shelf handphone bluetooth headsets from making VOIP calls. Dunno if that's true ....

very simple. buy a bluetooth headphone, as opposed to a bluetooth headset. some bluetooth headsets allow you to listen to audio but do not allow you to talk due to absence of microphone. check to ensure there's a mic. if you run windows on your pc, go to the "start" button and select "control panel". select "network and internet" and look for "set up a bluetooth enabled device". new pc's and laptops will support bluetooth natively without the need for a dongle and driver. if you don't have the native bluetooth option on your pc, use the dongle. power up your bluetooth headphone near the pc and select the "devices" tab and "add" the bluetooth headphone. click "next" and you'll be prompted with an entry for the passkey, or in some devices, it's auto-configured and automatically paired upon powering up.

i use the same pair of miniature bluetooth speakers for iphone, ipad, galaxy 3s, and laptop. they work in the same principle like bluetooth hands-free kit except for the absence of a microphone.

I got a bluetooth wireless headset/built-in mic and one of those bluetooth dongles.

No problem pairing the headphones with my Macbook Pro which has built-in buetooth support.

However on my win 7 PC it took a bit more effort. The software that came with the bluetooth dongle was an older version & the sound was very jerky. I tried to download the latest software from the Broadcom website but initially had problems with their website. Once I got the updated drivers the headphones worked fine.

Thanks for your inputs. actually with my old pair of bluetooth handsfree set, I had no issues with pair to my phone and tablet. Unfortunately my old handsfree set died so I can't try it with my PC.

The outgoing voice data part is really the blackbox for me.

On a related note, I had just bought a very nice pair of senheisser PX-200ii headset with built in mic barely a month ago. It uses a single jack for sound in/output (supposedly optimised for iphones and ipads) but that wouldn't work for my laptop for obvious reasons (laptops have separate speaker and mic jacks).

I was hoping a Bluetooth device would solve my problem but I hate risking 160+ dollars for an experiment. That's why I've posted a thread here.

Can I know what was the brand of headset you bought? Was it one of those specially made for PC VOIP calls (logitech, creative etc) or the ones used for handphones (jabra, jawbone etc)?

Thanks!!!

I got a pair with the option of using it as a wired or wireless connection, the Air-Fi AF32 from Amazon

I also got a cheap blue tooth dongle by Kinivo for US$15. I think most blue tooth dongles are using the same chip from Broadcom that's why one has to get the SW drivers from Broadcom's website.

There are youtube clips on the headphones here:
